Formal BM for filings and bids
English To Malay Translation: Formal Malay For JPN Counters, Agencies And Tenders
Filing an affidavit in Shah Alam, registering a foreign marriage with JPN or bidding for a GLC contract? Some Malaysian desks only work in Bahasa Malaysia. Our English to Malay translation puts your papers into formal, Malaysian Malay. Court terms follow the register lawyers use. Spelling follows Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Layout stays as you sent it. We also tell you honestly when an English copy is already enough.
Yes. A Malaysian linguist writes your English file in formal Bahasa Malaysia, using DBP spelling and the terms courts and agencies use. A second linguist checks each English to Bahasa Malaysia translation line by line. You get an editable file, plus a signed statement and company chop when an office asks. Not sure Malay is needed? Ask us first.

Mixed Court Bundles: Every Source Language Into Formal Malay
Most files we receive start in English and must end in formal Malay for a Malaysian desk. Court bundles, though, often mix in Chinese chats, Tamil statements or Arabic letters. Some clients also need the reverse direction for a partner overseas. This table shows each route into or out of Malay. The links lead to the language pages that handle the other pairs.

Who reads the Malay
Courts, JPN, Tender Boards: Where Malaysian Offices Want Malay
Malay is the national language, yet not every Malaysian office insists on it. Peninsular courts, Syariah courts, councils and some tender boards usually do. JPN, SSM and many regulators often take English as it is. Pick your destination below to see what it usually asks. If English is enough, we say so, and you save the cost of a Malay version.
High Court And Sessions Court, Peninsula
- What they usually ask
- Documents filed under the Rules of Court in the national language, while English exhibits may usually go in as they are
- What we give you
- Pleadings and affidavits in court-register Malay, ready for your lawyer to check and file
Syariah Court Cases
- What they usually ask
- Malay papers, following each state's own Syariah procedure rules
- What we give you
- Malay versions of English supporting papers, such as an overseas nikah or divorce record
JPN With A Foreign Spouse Or Child
- What they usually ask
- For papers not in English or Malay, a certified translation into either one
- What we give you
- A Malay version when the counter asks for one, and honest advice when English is enough
Government Tenders And GLC Bids
- What they usually ask
- Malay forms and, in some tenders, a Malay proposal or method statement
- What we give you
- Malay that follows the tender's own layout, built on one shared glossary
Factory Floors And Safety Audits
- What they usually ask
- Safety data sheets and procedures that every worker can read
- What we give you
- Plain Malay safety text, with hazard terms kept consistent
Product Labels And Registration
- What they usually ask
- Food labels in Malay or English, and Malay for some special food groups
- What we give you
- Label wording sized for the pack, ready for your regulatory team
Rules differ by court, state and agency. We read your office's written rule first, and the final decision is always theirs.

Foreign Certificates Turned Into Formal Malay For Malaysian Counters
Foreigners living here, and Malaysians with family abroad, often bring English certificates into local cases. A court may need them in Malay for a custody claim. A Syariah court may need an overseas marriage record before a divorce. These cards show the records we put into Malay most often. Each one opens a full page with its own sample.

Affidavit Lines In English Beside Their Malaysian Court Malay
Lawyers often ask how our Malay reads before they trust us with a filing. This sample shows invented affidavit lines with the Malay a Malaysian court is used to seeing. Notice the fixed opening formula, the exhibit marking and the jurat. Your real copy keeps the paragraph numbers, the exhibit labels and the layout of your English draft.

Formal Malay know-how
DBP Spelling And Court Register: Malay Translation Services Know-How
Formal Bahasa Malaysia is not the Malay people speak at the mamak stall. Courts, ministries and tender boards expect a fixed register and standard spelling. Good Malay translation services also know where Malaysian and Indonesian Malay part ways. These six points show what our linguists check before any English file becomes an official Malay version in Malaysia.
-
Court Malay Has Fixed Terms
Order 92 of the Rules of Court 2012 makes Malay the filing language in Peninsular courts. A statement of claim is a penyata tuntutan, and a defence is a pembelaan. We use these settled terms.
-
DBP Is The Spelling Referee
Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka sets standard Malay spelling and terms. When a word is in doubt, we check its reference portal and Kamus Dewan, not a forum post.
-
Malaysian, Not Indonesian
Malaysia says pejabat and kerajaan, while Indonesia says kantor and pemerintah. Polisi means policy here but police in Jakarta. One wrong word can make a filing look careless.
-
Sabah And Sarawak Differ
In the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak, the Rules of Court point to English instead. We ask which court will receive your papers before quoting a Malay version.
-
Malay Leads On Signboards
In Kuala Lumpur, DBKL's advertisement by-laws want Malay on signs, larger than any other language. Billboards also need a DBP language check before approval.
-
Names And Titles In Letters
Mr, Mrs and Ms become Encik, Puan and Cik in Malay letters. People's names, registered company names and passport numbers stay exactly as written.
Have a client glossary or an earlier Malay version? Send it with the file, and we keep your approved terms.
How a Malay version is built
Glossary-First Workflow For English Into Malay Across Malaysia
Law firms, HR teams and bid managers all want the same thing: a firm date and Malay they can sign off without rewriting. Our workflow starts with your terms, not with the first sentence. Companies reach our professional translation services Malaysia online, and we handle everything by email, from Johor Bahru to Kuching. Files can arrive in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF.
-
Step 1
Share File And Destination
Upload the English file and say where the Malay goes: court, JPN, tender or staff.

NDA And Purchase Order
We sign your NDA if needed. Purchase orders and company invoices are fine.

-
Step 5
Translate, Then Second Check
One Malaysian linguist writes the Malay. Another compares it with the English, line by line.
-
Step 6
Your Reviewer Reads It
Your lawyer or team checks the draft. We change wording before anything is signed.
-
Step 7
Editable File Delivered
You receive the Malay file in its original format, with a signed PDF when needed.
Fixed price and date first. Payment only after you agree.

What sinks a Malay filing
Indonesian Words And Machine Malay That Sink Malaysian Filings
A Malay version can be on time and still fail. Registries, judges and tender panels notice odd wording at once. These are the problems lawyers and companies bring to us most, often after a cheap first attempt. They come from customer cases, not from any official list. Our second linguist checks for each one before your English to Bahasa Malaysia translation leaves us.
-
Indonesian Words In A Filing
A writer trained in Jakarta used kantor and pemerintah. The Malaysian reader saw foreign Malay at once.
Only Malaysian linguists write our Malay, using DBP spelling and local terms.
-
Machine Malay In A Pleading
Free tools mix up legal terms and word order. Opposing counsel can attack the meaning.
Legal files go to linguists who work with Malaysian court papers every week.
-
Translation Filed Late
An urgent English filing still needs its Malay version within the time the rules allow. Missing it can cost the application.
We plan your date backwards from the court deadline and confirm it before starting.
-
Defamatory Words Paraphrased
Courts expect the exact words complained of, with a certified Malay translation. A summary is not enough.
We translate the words in full and keep the original beside the Malay.
-
Two Terms For One Item
Different writers used different Malay words across a long tender. Evaluators were confused.
One glossary covers the whole pack, and a senior linguist reads the full set.
-
English Larger Than Malay On A Sign
A signboard draft gave English the biggest letters. Council approval stalled.
We flag the size rule and suggest Malay wording ready for a DBP check.
Received a registry query about your Malay version? Send it with the file, and we fix our own errors free.

Lawyers, Importers And Company Secretaries Score Our English-Malay Drafts
These reviews come from people who had to put English papers in front of a Malaysian desk. Some faced a court deadline the next morning. Others had a tender closing date or a factory audit. A few were foreigners dealing with JPN or a Syariah court for the first time. Each needed formal Malay that nobody would question.

Filing, Tender And JPN Doubts On Malay Versions Answered
Still not sure?
Send your question with the quote form. A translator replies, not a bot.
Ask your question
Must Our Affidavit Be In Bahasa Malaysia For A High Court Filing In Kuala Lumpur?
Usually yes. Order 92 of the Rules of Court 2012 says documents used under the Rules shall be in the national language. Your lawyer decides the filing plan, and we supply the Malay version on time.
Can English Exhibits Go Before A Malaysian Court Without A Malay Copy?
Often yes, because the rules allow English documents as exhibits, with or without a Malay translation. Pleadings and affidavits are different and need Malay. Check with your lawyer which exhibits the judge may still want in Malay.
Our Case Is In Kota Kinabalu. Do Sabah Courts Still Want Malay Papers?
The Rules of Court treat the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak differently and point to English there. So a Malay version may not be needed at all. Tell us the exact court, and we quote only what it asks for.
Must JPN See A Malay Version Of My Foreign Spouse's English Birth Record?
Usually not. Malaysian missions abroad ask for a certified English or Malay translation only when a paper is in another language. Ask your JPN counter, and we prepare a Malay version only if it says so.
A Syariah Court Needs My Overseas English Nikah Record. Can You Write It In Malay?
Yes. We use the Islamic family law terms that Syariah courts in Malaysia use. Each state has its own procedure rules, so please confirm the format with the court office or your Syariah lawyer.
Will You Sign An NDA Before We Send A Tender Pack For Malay Translation?
Yes. We sign your NDA, or ours, before any files arrive. Only the assigned linguists open the pack, and nothing is shared outside the team.
Our Jakarta Office Drafted Some Malay. Can You Make It Read Like Malaysian Malay?
Yes. We edit it against the English and replace Indonesian words such as kantor or pemerintah. Editing costs less than a full translation when the draft is close.
Do Signboards In Kuala Lumpur Need DBP-Checked Malay Wording?
DBKL's advertisement by-laws want Malay on signs, larger than any other language. Its licence process also asks for a DBP language check. We write the Malay wording, and you submit it for that check.
For English Into Malay Work, Do You Count Source Or Target Words?
We count the English source words. That way you know the exact price before we start. Malay text often runs longer, but that never changes your quote.
Does The Companies Commission Insist On Malay Versions Of English Board Resolutions?
Usually not. SSM's rules accept documents in the national language or English, and ask for a translation only for other languages. A Malay version still helps when staff or a Malay-speaking partner must read them.
